Purwakarta – On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Elected Regent of Purwakarta Regency conveyed his vision and views in a joint dialogue attended by representatives of universities and academics. This event aims to strengthen the synergy between the government and the world of education in supporting regional development.
In his remarks, the Elected Regent emphasized the important role of universities as centers of strategic thinking and research to support data-based policies. "Policy formulations must be born from campus thinkers that we will later bring to the legislature and executive," he said.
The Regent also appreciated the development of universities in Purwakarta which has now reached 18 institutions, compared to previously only three. According to him, this number shows the progress of Purwakarta as a center of education and opens up great opportunities for collaborative research in various fields, from social to environmental.
In the dialogue, the Elected Regent emphasized the importance of strengthening the character of the Purwakarta community through development based on cultural values and mutual cooperation. He invited all elements of society, including academics, to continue to contribute to preserving the environment and educating the public about the importance of ecological awareness.
"The earth does not need to be cared for, but it must not be damaged. We must prevent environmental damage because it will affect the future of development," he said.
This event also became a momentum to discuss Purwakarta's future challenges, including the limited regional budget of IDR 2.3 trillion which requires effective management. With support from academics and various parties, the government is optimistic that it will be able to realize the vision of "Special Purwakarta" through innovative policies based on research.
At the end of the dialogue, the Regent-elect invited universities to actively provide input and be involved in every development process. "Collaboration between the government and universities will bring Purwakarta to a brighter future," he concluded.
The dialogue event ended with an interactive discussion between the Regent-elect and participants, which covered various strategic issues, including education, health, and natural resource management.
