Seminar "Sehat Jiwa Raga" UPI Purwakarta: Building a Healthy and Productive Campus
Purwakarta, February 26, 2025 – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Purwakarta held a seminar titled *Sehat Jiwa Raga* as part of its efforts to create a healthy and productive academic environment. The seminar was attended by various stakeholders, including local government staff leaders, sub-district heads, neighborhood representatives (RT/RW), lecturers, students, and the Deputy Director of UPI Purwakarta.
In his opening speech, the Director of UPI Purwakarta reaffirmed the university's commitment to implementing the UPI Rector's policies in establishing a *Healthy Campus*, emphasizing *Zero Bullying, Zero Gambling*, and other initiatives. "Our task is challenging. If the mind and soul are not healthy, it will be difficult to uphold the university’s health guidelines," he stated.
The Importance of Health in Academic Life
The seminar featured two keynote speakers who discussed health from different perspectives.
Husen Ahmad Baajry, M.D., Ph.D.
The founder of *Bajry Diet Fasting Therapy* and *Scalp Therapy for Baldness* emphasized the importance of students' awareness of their health. According to him, many students take pride in their academic achievements but neglect their physical well-being.
"A healthy person is a rare being in the 21st century. Chronic diseases often stem from minor ailments that are improperly treated," he explained. He highlighted that the human body is its own best doctor, making it essential to recognize bodily signals and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
He also introduced the concept of *Holistic Medicine*, a treatment method that focuses on addressing the root causes of diseases rather than just the symptoms. He pointed out that the more instant a medication is, the more harmful its side effects can be.
"The stomach is the main source of disease," he quoted from the Quran, encouraging seminar participants to pay closer attention to their diet and opt for natural remedies such as honey and coconut water as alternative treatments.
Dr. Phil. Leli Kurniawati, S.Pd., M.Mus
In the next session, Dr. Leli Kurniawati discussed the concept of a *Healthy Campus*, based on:
- Law No. 36 of 2009 on Health
- Presidential Regulation No. 8 of 2017 on the Healthy Living Community Movement
She emphasized that physical and mental well-being are directly proportional to a person's productivity.
"A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer" (Hadith Muslim), she quoted, stressing that health is a crucial investment in both academic and professional life.
Q&A Session: Maintaining a Healthy Diet
During the Q&A session, a participant asked about maintaining a healthy diet to support smooth digestion.
Dr. Leli provided several practical tips:
1. Avoid consuming instant foods and excessive flavor enhancers.
2. Eat alkaline-rich foods such as avocados and pineapples.
3. Ensure adequate water intake and engage in regular physical activity.
4. Drink water on an empty stomach, especially after waking up.
The seminar concluded with hopes that similar events would continue in the future. "Mental and physical health are the keys to productivity and national progress. If health is neglected, its impact will be felt across various aspects of life," concluded Husen Ahmad Baajry.
